Could you comment on this plan, please
 

My SO and I are going to be travelling, by car, from Nice, France to Austria, this August. From Nice, we are planning to drive to Graz and from Graz to see Vienna and Salzburg before returning to Graz and then driving on to Lourmarin, France.
Have you ever done this drive? If so, any comments/advice/recommendations you could share would be appreciated.

We've driven most of this route at one point or another when we lived in Austria. Not knowing the length of your holiday, I might suggest that you do a loop: Nice to Graz via Italy; and then from Vienna across Austria, through Liechtenstein and Switzerland, then south to Loumarin. If nothing else, the change in mountain scenery will be nice.

Are you thinking of doing Nice to Graz in a single day? That is a lot of driving - over 9 hours without stops, and being August probably longer.
Hopefully you are planning to see more than just countryside whizzing past on the trip and will taking your time over the journey.

We are planning to take about 7 days after leaving Nice. We would like to stop along the way from Nice to Graz. From Graz, we would like to visit Vienna and Salzburg. When we leave Salzburg, our next destination will be Lourmarin, but we would plan a stop between Salzburg and Lourmarin as well.

Is the backtracking from Salzburg to Graz a must?

Nice - Genoa - Piacenza - Brescia - Mestre - Udine - Klagenfurt - Graz - Vienna - Salzburg - Innsbruck - Scuol - St. Moritz - Varenna - Milano Est - Borgato - Oulx Est - Briancon - Sisteron - Aix en Provence.
Do you plan to visit any place between Nice and Graz resp Salzburg and Aix?
