Could you check out this plan for our Paris week?

If you have a minute and let me know what you think?

What I have in mind is to fly in on the 27th (that is on a Thursday from Dublin), meet our friends who will already be checked in at our hotel, in the 6th, the St. Germain des Pres on Rue Bonapart. The strike out and walk the city and see as much as we can. And find a bakery and eat some cheese and drink wine that night at nearby cafe...

Want to stay in the city for the next three nights, then on Sunday take the train to Bayeax around noon. Get there, enjoy a lunch. Walk around the town, see the tapestry (would that be open on Sunday, I wonder?).

Monday, stay in that area and take a tour of the Dday American sites, maybe book Battlebus bc I think the guys will like the tour guide perspective. This Monday will be May 1st and I am pretty sure the tours operate on this day.

Then stay a second night in Bayaux, maybe the next day rent a car, drive around and see Mt. St. Michelle and that area.

Then, take the train in the later afternoon back to Paris. Go back to the same hotel in the 6th, stay two more nights and then come home on Thursday, May 4th back to the good ole USA.

What do you think? Of course while in Paris see the Louve, the Eiffil Tower, the Arch, the Orsay, Notre Dam and take a boat ride? Forgive spelling errors, guide book is next to my napping husband and can't get right now.

I like your plan! Things to do and things planned but from what you'ver written ... not angst ridden to see it all and do it all in 1 week!!

Enjoy wine and cheese and think of this poor old Yank... OK?

That sounds very much like the plan that we have for our upcoming trip, so I like it.
Although I've been torn about whether to do Mont St. Michel on the first day we go up to Normandy (leaving Paris in morning, and going straight to Mont St. Michel, then to Bayeux later in day), or the last day like you have planned--I keep going back and forth. We already scheduled a Battlebus tour for that middle day in Bayeux, as I agree the tour guide perspective should be very interesting. Next day, we either see Mont St. Michel, or if have already done that on first day, then leave for Paris first thing in morning.
Like I said, I originally had it planned exactly like you, now have waffled and am thinking of the other way. But seeing your plan in writing, which was also my original plan, it looks good.
I guess great minds really do think alike. Enjoy, and be sure to post a trip report as I'd love to hear how things worked out.

Yes, I think this is the plan. Just trying to figure out how to get to St. Michelle. We are getting in on Sunday and I think we cannot rent a car that day. We could maybe rent one on Tuesday morning for the day and then get on the train back to Paris. Oh well, we'll figure it out when we get there.

Are their tours to Mt. St. Michelle from Bayeax? Anyone know? Thanks all...

Heavens,

I don't really know about tours Mt. St. Michelle from Bayeax - you might want do a seperate post for that piece of info.

I just wanted to say that your plan looks perfect. Way to go!

We took a D-day guided tour and loved it! The tour guide spoke English adequately, and there was a charming elderly french couple along in our van. The man was a young teenager when his town was liberated by the US forces...he had wonderful stories to tell us about the Americans throwing them gum from their tanks! Don't miss Mont St. Michel...it is beautiful and the history behind it is fascinating. It was the highlight of my Normandy region tour 2 years ago!
