I have used these machines to buy tickets with debit cards, and they did ask me for a PIN. I think that whatever you use, you need a PIN. Get a debit card. I also think you can also get a PIN for a credit card; ask your bank.

You can buy a Bayern-Ticket at a ticket counter, and THEY will take credit cards, but it will cost an additional €2 for personal service.

However, these machines take cash.

One last stupid question-
Do I need to "validate" the Bayern Ticket before I get on a train (like getting it "time-stamped" by some machine)?

If you purchase the Bayern-Ticket from one of the DB automats (a red/white/blue Fernverkehr automat or a blue/white Nahverkehr automat) it should ask you what day you want it for, and that date should be printed on the ticket. If the validity date is already printed on it, and it will probably be too wide to go in the cancelling machines, you don't have to validate it. On the other hand, I understand (haven't actually done this myself) that if you purchase it from an MVV automat, you will have to validate it. Look at the ticket. If it has a little triangle with the words "Hier entwerten" on one end, it has to be enwertet, or cancelled.
