Could Somebody PLEASE Translate to French :)
 

I am writing a CV in French, but my grammar is not precise and would love if somebody could translate the following for me:

• I undertook Work Experience at the architecture firm JM Architects where I gained a glowing appraisal, and again acquiring an array of skills.
• At school I took part in a ‘Peer Mediating’ course enabling me to work with younger students of the school and help them with problems they are facing with their school life; I meet every week with a student at present, aiding them with their problems and offering them an older student to talk to. Additionally, for three hours a week I assist in student classes at high school helping them with their class work.
• I have gone on many foreign trips with the school, including France, Germany and Holland, enhancing my knowledge of the countries’ culture and language.

I will be very grateful to all that can help!! I am desperate and would love help ASAP

I could do this but don't have time right now ... however, I will admit I am not sure I believe in writing someone's resume for them which would imply they knew a foreign language and could write it themself. Don't you think this may be misleading? I think you should write in English if that is the language you will have to conduct business in for the firm. I have gotten resumes from French people at the firm I used to work, and they were written in French, not English, actually.

I don't know, someone may feel differently about this, but I think that's my position on this. I know lots of people have resume help in terms of tips or suggestions on formatting it, but if you are writing your CV in French, I think you are implying you are fluent in the language and could write it yourself. In your skills or languages section, what level of French are you claiming to have?

I think that if you are applying for jobs that require a resume in French, it would be a useful exercise for you to translate it yourself. Then, you could ask someone to look it over to check the grammar.

I don't mean to be harsh, but think about it. Don't you think it's rather a lot to ask, on a travel board, that someone do your work for you?

It's best to write a CV only in the languages in which you are competent.

There are occasional exceptions if your CV must be read by someone who is outside the environment in which you would eventually work (e.g., HR people).

In any case, even writing the CV in the original language is delicate work; translating it to another language is much more so. One wrong word and you lose the job.
