could some one just survive on marmite and bread
 
hi everone i have a question could some one just survive on marmite and bread eg 3 meals a day forever ???? would this be bad

Some years back my husband's mum had a friend who lived mainly on toast and marmite after she lost her husband as she couldn't be bothered to cook anymore. After a while, and I really don't know how long, she ended up in hospital having ended up overdosing on one of the vitamins in the marmite. Or possibly she was lacking a significant vitamin - I don't remember the details now but I do know that the marmite put her in hospital.

No...and it would be pathological behavior not only to try to do so but also to KNOW someone is trying to do so and not intervening to stop it.

It'll be fine and tasty too. You might want to add in a dash of water though, as after about the 4th day, it is going to get a bit tough to choke down the bread. I would advise doing this diet primarily in either very dry lands (Sahara, Mongolia or Nevada) or in heavy jungle areas with lots of humidity. In cold areas you can cut back substantially and just hibernate for 6 months in caves.

Interesting first post and probably better suited to the Lounge.

However to answer the question:
My son did for a couple of months when he was about 18 months old. All he would eat. I did offer him alternatives but it was a waste of time.
Then one day he refused the Marmite and ate a normal meal. He hasn't touched Marmite since.

I wouldn't recommend it for an adult though.

well i am 30 years old i had a simliar experience when i was two years old was admitted to hospital when released i went on a toast and vegemite diet and no longer ate meat or veges fruit or potatoes weird so after a few years of that eg getting onto ten years old parents thought id grow out of it i tasted marmite then coul no longer return to vegemite the marmite had everthing my body was lacking once again parents thought would grow out of it but i wasnt i wouldnt eat anythink else not kidding just bread marg marmite when was 14 years oldparents consider health camp and physically making me eat but to no prevail and health camp was scratched off list to moved outa home when was 16 and to this day i eat bread marg marmite have now added cheese to diet but thats it so if i was asked what id you have for tea 8 years ago on the 22nd for tea it would be a no brainer marmite on toast i have it breakfast lunch and tea i have never eaten macdondalds kfc subway pizza fish even fruit i used to drink around 2 and half litres milk a day love banana and strawberry but yet cant eat a banana or a strawberry so in conclusion to this and being 30 years old never been out for tea lol not jokes tho this disease of mental being that has plagued me for years has run my life i just cant bring myself to try other things my throat closes over as its just in my head any suggestions on how or whether any one else out there has expeirenced this would love to no how uve got on thanks for reading

Guess what I discovered a few weeks ago on the deli counter in my local Waitrose (a UK grocers)?

MARMITE CHEESE!

It is cheddar flavoured with Marmite and is absolutely scrumptious. Well worth seeking out if you are a Marmite fan.

Re your craving for Marmite, I eat Marmite daily on toast for breakfast. I take it on holiday with me as well. One time I went on a ski trip without Marmite, and when I got back pretty much the first thing I did was eat a couple of spoons of Marmite straight from the jar!! I must have really needed those B vitamins!

Years ago I was told to always have a Marmite sandwich or Marmite on toast when I got in after a heavy night because the B vitamins help to combat the effects of alcohol. It's something I've often done too though it doesn't necessarily ward off the hangover!

To get more variety in your diet, you could start to combine Marmite with other things, for example a scrambled egg on top of your Marmite toast? A sliced tomato tastes great on top of the Marmite toast. A Marmite sandwich can be greatly improved with a couple of slices of cucumber or tomato, also a slice of chicken or ham. Marmite and peanut butter sandwiches are popular with my kids. Try just adding a small something to your sandwich or toast and see how you get on.

I think the first one is better as it has more fun recipes, the second just seems to involve adding a spoon of Marmite to the rest of the ingredients.
