So we brow beat you enough to drop the idea? :)
have a great trip |
Nope no brow beating. Just back to my original misgiving. Cotswolds way yesterday. Weather pleasant. Going to Wild rabbit tiday
|
I am so happy you didn't bring your wine! Between the possibilities of it being in too hot or cold conditions, lost luggage, or theft (we can't lock our luggage) it could have been heartbreaking.
I am happily following along, we will be there for the first time at the end of the month. I would imagine with all of the celebrities who have homes in the area, the restaurants would have some wonderful wine offerings. Enjoy! |
Wild Rabbit was quite good albeit expensive at 300 for two. We had a couple of glasses of wine . They do offer corkage if you want to bring your own. Decent wine list. Haut Brion 2006 was 800. Which would be why I would rather bring my own.
I find it surprising how British food has improved over the last forty years. I remember it being quite ghastly when I was a student but perhaps it was also because I had no money. Weather has been decent with partly cloudy conditions. Lucky so far for us as apparently England has been very rainy for the last 18 months breaking records set in the 1800s. Lots of tourists. Would recommend anyone visiting start early before the buses appear. |
Lots of things have changed in forty years ;)
Food -- from pubs to fine dining is a whole different world now. Some of the best restaurants in the world are in the UK. Just in tiny Kingham there are two destination places -- the Wild Rabbit and the Kingham Plough, both being terrific pubs w/ rooms with 'celebrity' chefs. (in some ways I actually prefer the Plough myself) |
