Costa Brava/Girona vs. Dali Museum/Girona Tours With Spanish Trails

I am going on one of these with Spanish Trails. Initially I was on the first tour because I am interested in seeing the Dali Museum and Girona.. But, then it was cancelled due to not enough folks on the trip and I decided to do their Costa Brava/Girona day trip. Now I have the option of the first tour again. Has anybody gone on either of these? Any opinions out there in general? The website is www.spanish-trails.com. Thanks!!

I trust you know that you can visit each of these locations on your own, without a tour?

And I'm confused: If you are interested in seeing the Dali Museum, and now have the chance, why are you hesitating?

If you are intrigued by the possibility of seeing a bit of the Costa Brava, I think you would need more information about the tour -- I just took a glance at the link you provided, and didn't see any reference to where, exactly, the tour would take you along that coast. But maybe I missed it, I really just glanced....

We did this but on our own. We rented a car in Barcelona and leaving early, headed north to the Dali museum, not to be missed IMO. We spent a couple of hours there and then wandered back to Barcelona down the coast from the Bay of Roses. We took our time, stopping and snacking and got back late evening, but still had time to eat dinner in the city.

Hi and thank you! I booked the Dali Museum/Girona tour. It's a solo (by myself) trip and I have always gotten so much out of tours. They have always been worth it.

But, here's a question kja (you have always been really helpful..thanks!) I am trying to get two of us from Cordoba to Granada. The AVE train site doesn't show any trains available on that route..and the route looks longer than the bus route anyway. I am thinking of just booking the bus in advance from the states. It's a direct 2hr 40min at a decent time of the day. Should I wait and buy them in Spain or just buy it now and have it be a done deal and not risk not getting the direct bus at the time we want? Thanks again!!

You can certainly catch a train on that route, but you have to change at Antequera-Santa Ana. Depending on train times, your journey is between 2 and a quarter or 3 and a quarter hours. If you select the correct train you'll have 18 minutes between trains.

Just select your dates.

Thanks! I checked it out and when I put in my preferred date..or any old date...it says that it's not possible to reserve a train. I can't figure out why. I see that a bus is about the same amount of time and with no layover. And available. I usually prefer trains, but the bus may be just fine for a couple hours journey.

I tried to purchase a bus ticket from ALSA online, but it doesn't seem I can get an E-ticket. So, I'll just purchase it when I get there.

Thank you for your kind words, seeksocean -- I'm glad that you've found some value in my comments.

Unfortunately, I can't help with Cordoba to Granada transportation. :-( I think there's been a problem with that train line in recent times, though I can't be sure.... If you want to know more, search this board -- I'm pretty sure I've seen posts about it. But it seems like you've found a reasonable solution. And FWIW, I found the busses in Spain to be comfortable and convenient.

The Dali Museum and Girona are both well worth seeing, IMO. Enjoy!

Loved, loved, loved the Dali Museum/Girona tour. So very happy I made this choice. There were only four of us and there was a flower festival going on in Girona, so it was packed and full of interesting floral exhibits. I highly recommend Spanish Trails. A top notch tour company. I'll do a trip report, I swear. Thanks for all your help. XOXO

First there is real value in going on any of their tours and I am not a tour person..they tailored a tour for us as we were staying in giro a and we then headed for the coast.. Your quite takes care of tickets at the museum and makes a crowded place easy...giro a is charming close to the river..love cadaques and the coast where we stayed too...so if Dahl museum is really important do that one ..the Costa brava will be beautiful on a sunny day but a very long ride in my opinion for a short stay.

Oooh, you were in Girona for its flower festival -- lucky you!

Rainy but fun in Seville and headed to Cordoba for the last weekend of the Patio Festival. You don't need tickets anymore (or so I read) to view the patios. But, I'm trying to get a tour and am finding no luck. Any ideas?
