but no matter which ticket option you use - it is still quite a slog from any tube station to the RS. If you do end up using the tube, I agree you should probably get off at Green Park and catch a cab from there. The Piccadilly Circus station is usually very crowded and can be quite confusing.
I'd still use a car service - "<i> . . . . jutst Airorts again.. I couldnt get there last tine.. URL not found</i>" maybe I see the reason you are having problems reaching them :) If you just click on the link in my post above, it will take you directly to the site . . . . . |
Hi well I booked with Just Airports. Just my bad typing this am.. for some reason when I had a question it wouldnt go through.. but the booking did. ..
I did go with the mPV as we are three and will have at least four pieces luggage.. total was 44 pounds.. question is.. do you tip the car service or is it like a cab??? thanks would like to know on that one. Last time in London we did do a service ,but the price was all inclusive.. |
assuming the driver is there waiting for you, and that he gets you to the destination ok, I would tip the driver--GBP3-4 should do.

I'd check - the fare could very well be less if you pay cash. Last time I used them a saloon (sedan) was £6 or £7 less for cash . . .
as W9 says, tip £3-£4-ish (10% or less) - or maybe as much as £5 if he helps a lot w/ the luggage. |
thanks I did check all. We did the MPV though as there are three and more than the luggage allowed for the sedan.. they do charge also for parking the car..just fyi.. oh well it will be nice to have someone waiting and not have to deal with the tube /taxi etc..thanks all for your help..

Car Service vs Tube.
I've been reading this post and am wondering about HEX myself. We are staying at the LSE Northumberland location. We are flying in to Heathrow and was thinking about taking the HEX to Paddington station and then take the B or N line to Charing Cross. I was told that LSE Northumberland was very near the charing cross station. My question, how far in walking distance is the LSE location from charing cross? Of note, I'm athletic, my friend is not and she has problems with leg swelling if she walks too great a distance. Should we just take a car (I.e., justairports)from the airport or is it better to take HEX and then the tube? We will have one suitcase each and it is only the two of us..and yes we are budget travelers. Thanks willtravel for the LSE recommendation. |
Sorry, for the question above. Please disregard it. It has been moved to a different post...

Hi dwebb, glad you got a booking at that great location.
According to the Journey Planner at www.thetube.com it would be an 8-minute walk from Charing Cross to Northumberland House. Still, it would probably provide an easier start for your friend if you just took a car service. She will need all the energy she can get for London. In most cases, I'd find a tube-only route to save money, but there's no doubt that it is a little physically demanding if you have any problems with walking. |
