cost of train munich-salzburg?

Anybody have an idea of how much it would cost at the train station (not booking ahead) to buy a ticket from Salzburg to Munich?

On the Deutschebahn website it looks like a slow train would be about 21 euro and the faster ones 25 euro. That is 2nd class.

no need to book ahead, as there is almost always plently of room.

In add'n to Kristine's comments, note that you can take the Bayern Ticket or Schöneswochend ticket (slow trains only), which is good for up to 5 people. These tickets are amazing value if you have 2 or more people, so what to get depends if you're traveling solo or not.
Slow trains take about 2 hr, while faster trains take about 1.5 hours at best.

so these tickets are cheaper even with two people? Are they available only in certain countries?

abby,

the tickets I'm speaking of are good in various parts of Germany, but also include the short area between the Austrian border and Salzburg, due to the cooperation between the Deutschebahn and Austrian rail. The ticket price is for these group tickets is the same (mid-high 20 Euro range) for an entire day, regardless if you are 2, 3, 4 or 5 people--that's why with the more people, the price p/p goes down. Search here for "Bayern ticket" or "salzburg AND munich AND train" and you'll see a lot of people referring to these.
