cost of deisel in france/germany?

I have tried this research and the latest figures I can get is 2001. How much is diesel per litre (or gallon if it is priced in gallons).

Whilst we are at it.. I am looking to hire a peugeot 407(??) or a similar size renault (2 litre engine). Was wondering how big the fuel tank is if someone happens to know it AND would I survive on the Autobahn with this car or do I need a bigger faster car to not be swept off the road?
We were in Germany last month and, according to my notes, the most we paid was 0.864 Euros/liter near Heidelberg. The cheapest was 0.834 Euros/liter along the A61 near Bingen.

Hope this helps.

Hi

diesel is cheaper in France.
I am paying 0.72 / l at supermarkets here.

The price is more expensive at gas stations and on the autoroutes.

The Peugeot 407 is not launched yet !
The 307 is a medium sized hatchback car. The 406 is a slightly larger saloon. The 2.0 HDI diesel engine is excellent. Top speed is 120 mph with the turbo version. Expect to get around 5.5 l per 100kms (about 50 mpg imperial, 43 mpg US).

Peter

Hi

sorry, forgot to reply to the last bit.
Peugeot 406 has about 75l tank.

Up to 1200 kms normal use, but 1000 kms on autoroute. I don't know about the 307, but it may be a bit smaller.

Plenty quick enough in Germany, which has surprisingly low average speeds on the autobahn these days.

Peter
