cost of airport transfers in Vienna and Madrid

Can anyone tell me what is the cost of transferring from airports in Vienna and Madrid to hotels in the city centre, by taxis or any other means. I have heard of some absurdly expensive figures.

Thank you.

Raymond

The bus fare from the Vienna airport is 5.80 euro. Busses go to three locations: the Westbahnhof, the Sudbahnhof, and the Hotel Hilton.

Raymond,

In Madrid I used Aerocity airport shuttle service. 17euros from Barajas to your hotel in the city centre.

For a Vienna transfer direct to your hotel try C and K service from the airport. At 22 euros it is much less expensive than a regular taxi.
The driver will wait for your at the Arrivals area with a name sign and assist with luggage direct to the car.
This is much better than the bus service that runs every 20 minutes and still may mean a taxi transfer from bus depot to destination.

The Hilton Hotel mentioned in prior post is now closed for major renovation and is not due to open for many months

Can we find/use Aerocity at their kiosk in Madrid airport, or is an advance online reservation REQUIRED?

Thanks, they seem like a good option.

You can find the Aerocity kiosk downstairs in Terminal 1, in the international arrivals area.
An advanced reservation isn't required.

I'd take a shuttle in Madrid. The taxi driver we had took us around the "long way" which I had a feeling he was doing but was just too tired to fight it at the time. At least with a shuttle you know what your going to pay.

Thanks for the information on C and K car service; I have just booked a pick-up from the airport for my arrival on Nov. 14; I had been all over the Web looking for something cheaper than the 36 euros offered by my hotel. For those calling from the US, --at least the Boston area, where I am located (I don't know if it changes in other areas), the number is 011-43144444.

If you happen to be staying in a Best Western Hotel in Madrid, the hotel shuttle bus is free on the way in and only costs about 6 euros each on the way back.

Thanks for all your very useful advice. I think I will use the AeroCity service in Madrid and the C&K Airport Services in Vienna. Although it may be cheaper to use the train and bus services in both Vienna and Madrid, but once you get to the city terminal, a taxi is still required to get to the hotel. So a "door to door" service at a reasonable price is very good. And they are much cheaper than the price quoted to me by the travel agents.
