Cortona in December - anyone been?

Jump to last reply

We are planning a trip for my 50th birthday in December and thought it would be fun to try Italy during a totally different season. My question is whether anyone has stayed in Cortona during December and are the shops/restaurants open? While I fully appreciate it will be a much quieter (and colder/wetter) time of year, we do hope that shops and restaurants will keep typical hours.

I hadn't really thought of this but a few of the villas I have checked with do not take rentals from December through February so this got me concerned. I love Cortona but not so much if all the shops are closed and we have to travel for anything we want/need.
