Cortona area hotels
we want to use this area as our base; we'll be staying three nights.
Has anyone stayed at Villa Marsili, Casa San Martino or Il Falconiere? Other places? Thanks. |
I stayed at the Oasi Newman, about a 10 minute walk down the road from town. It's a converted convent with a lovely tranquil ambience, a beautiful terrace and garden, delicious breakfast buffet, and fabulous views of the countryside from the rooms. The rooms are very simply furnished, in keeping with its history as a convent and the general serenity of the place. I loved it there.

We have not stayed at Il Falconiere, but have spent time exploring the estate, peeking into some of the rooms, and especially wonderful, eaten dinner there....it was lovely and the meal was beautifully presented and delicious..the owner offers a cooking school as well....one good thing about using it as a base is that it is below the town...you won't have to go in and out and up and down Cortona's hilly approach when you day trip out.

Check out the San Luca. Its location and terrace could not be better.

I stayed at Il Falconiere and thought it was wonderful. We had one of the less expensive rooms and it was very nice. Lots of charm and a good size.
The property is beautiful, the meals are excellent and the location was very convenient. Would return if ever given the chance. This was a great base for exploring the area. AKNIC |
We stayed at the Hotel Italia, right in the center of Cortona and we loved it. This last year they have renovated part of it and made the rooftop terrace into a panoramic breakfast room.
