Corsica- Propriano or Porto Vecchio

My hubby and I are trying to decide if we stay in/near Propriano or PV after arriving in Bonaficio. We really want to see the natural beauty of the island, beach, and good dining options. Which area should we focus on? Is Propriano prettier (natural beauty) and less touristy and does it provide more access to other naturally beautiful areas?
We're going in the summer and also worry about traffic.
Thanks for any advice!

Both will be crowded in July-August.
Porto Vecchio is a little closer to the airport (Figari); Propriano is closer to the menhirs and dolmens of Filitosa.
The Eastern coast gets more and more flat and unspectular north of Porto Vecchio whereas the Western coast is mountainous and very scenic up to Calvi.

Thank you - Necker, I'd so love your help as you seem to know the island well. We will be ferrying from Sardinia into Bonafacio and originally we were thinking we would go:
Porto Vecchio - to explore the southern area
Drive up thru Corte to see the interior
Stay in Oletta to explore North (Cap Corse, Saint Florent, Calvi)
Fly out of Bastia

BUT then I was concerned we wouldn't see the most spectacular natural beauty of the island - so I was thinking we would go:
Propriano
Piano
Bastia

I think the 2nd option is my preferred but I know the roads are very windy up there and since we have limited time and it will be end of July I don't want to spend all of our time in the car (even though the scenery will be beautiful along the way).
What is your best advice?
Thank you SO much!

"What is your best advice?"
Start early in the morning. French tourists hardly begin to move before breakfast (10am or so).
But the roads remain windy nevertheless.

Which option would you recommend? First or second?
