Corsica or Sardinia

I am thinking of going to Corsica July 9th ... a few questions:

1. How is the food? I am a true foodie :)

2. Any specific town or hotels you highly suggest?

3. I would like to travel their via ferry/sea cat/train from London. (more romantic & fun) Is this doable from London in 2 days and what is the best route? From my research it looks like we should make our way down to Nice and fly or boat to Corsica from there??

Thanks!

We were there 25 years ago on our wedding trip, actually to Greece, a cruise of islands and a few days in Corsica. Unfortunately our travel agent at time never told us it was the rainy season in October. Am sure you will be alright for July.

I certainly do not recall where we stayed but do recall:

1. A great tasting pizza (one of best in life) from a white colored building in town named, "Orifios" if, and IF I recall correctly. I just googled it and nothing came up so maybe it no longer is there. I believe it was facing the water.

2. An interesting pine resin based wine called, "restina" which we brought home.

3. All the rain!!!

I wish I can give you more current information. Enjoy your trip!!

karmalizedcouple-- So sorry as I mixed things up! Abovementioned is for Corfu, Greece, not Corsica. I found a site for boat service with, "boat from London to Corsia" in Google:

You can also do a Google search for SNCM or Corsica Ferries to get added info.

Have you considered flying? Might be easier, more convenient with less hassle!

Corsica is beautiful. Forget the pizza, too many wonderful "local" foods with the French flair for yummie. We chose a town called Gjisonaccia, midway down the coast, because we sailed into Corsica on one end of the island and sailed out of it on the other on our way to Sardinia. The hotel was called A Casa Di Maria Cicilia @ a cost of 80 euro/night-taxes and breakfast included. www.booking.com. The breakfast was typical continental, nothing special. The lunch or dinner there were fantastic. Puff pastry stuffed with cheeses or seafood, grilled shrimp with all the trimmings. Truly, each plate could feed two people. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were huge, immaculate, and smartly decorated. We even had a balcony. The only drawback to the town is that the streets and sidewalks are undergoing some major construction, so ambling down the little streets is not really enjoyable. If you are beach people, the beach is a short ride away. Bring a dictionary. Few people speak english, so we were happy that we could speak a little italian. Have fun.
