Corpus Christi (Fronleichnam) in Bayern

My wife & I will be traveling (train) from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GAP) on June 7, which is a holiday in Bayern. I know that the grocery stores and bakeries will be closed upon our arrival in GAP. Since we are staying in an apartment in GAP, I was considering buying a few staples in Rothenburg the night before we travel...necessities like beer, wine and snacks.

We also traveled to GAP from Salzburg on Fronleichnam last year, but I can't remember if the bakeries and grocery stores reopen the next day. Perhaps one of our Bavarian friends could help me out! Swandav, I know you are living in GAP, I would appreciate any guidance from your end. We are staying in an apartment on Gehfeldstrasse 15. There is a Norma grocery nearby as well as Angelbauer's Bakery.

Thanks!

All stores will be closed, but only for Fronleichnam. The following day will be business as usual.
If you need something on Fronleichnam you can buy it at Munich central station where you probably will change trains. There are several bakeries in station and also a few overpriced mini supermarkets with limited range of products (more like the stuff you would also get at a gas station).
I assume that Garmisch and any other tourist area will be quite crowded as many people take the following Friday off for a long weekend.

Thanks Cowboy for your reply. I won't have much time to shop at Munich Hbf, as we only have 10 minutes between trains. We can change at Munich Pasing, which would give us some extra time, but the shopping possibilities might be limited.

You can often ask the host to do some basic shopping for you if you send in a list in advance, such as bread, milk, butter and beer. But buying the day before is the best solution, provided it isn't too heavy or bulky. At least the host should offer you fresh bread rolls - Brötchenservice (billed to you later). You can often get basics on a holiday at a mini market attached to a service station (ARAL, Shell, BP etc).

There is a small store inside Pasing station that sells those groceries a inflated prices. On your left side when you walk up the ramp (southern exit).
And they're building a rather big shopping mall, which will be closed anyway that day. So many new buildings and stores.
Thr Munich 60 post office has been replaced by some stores as well. It was an historic building.

Thanks Alec and Logos for your help. I'm sure our host in GAP would be willing to get a few things for us. We've stayed at her place several times and she is very accomodating. And I will consider changing trains at Pasing rather than Hbf. We will have a good meal in GAP when we arrive mid-afternoon from Rothenburg. In a tourist town there is usually somewhere good to eat, even on a holiday.
