I'm probably to late to suggest this but what the heck! It may help someone else. Have you thought of using the 'Park and Ride' in Lelant and taking the train into St Ives, It's a beautiful ride with stunning views - sit on the right hand side of the train for the best views.

Once I spent couple weeks walking in Yorkshire Dales, it rained almost every other day.

Ayla - good idea about the park and ride in Lelant for St. Ives, though the trains can get very crowded when they reduce them to 2 carriages.

there is also one in Truro now, coming in from the Chiverton roundabout, at Threemilestone, which uses large mercedes coaches which are very comfy and frequent.

I'm glad that my recommendation of Parcevall Hall has found favour with you - i hope your mum and her group enjoy it. co-oncidentally, my mum organises the same sort of group but i think that Parcevall Hall is a bit far for a day trip from Coventry.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not "dissing" Bradford, I just don't want to be there in the rush hour.

Ann, Lelant sprung to mind since we always camped at St Ives Bay Holiday Park in Hayle, St Erth is probably better since it's the first pickup point.

So many good memories of a nice empty beach in the middle of the Towans with our children and my parents - we scattered my Dad's ashes there, it was his favourite place.

Actually I'm kidding,we were back in England for our DD's wedding last year and the weather (first week in June) was so wonderful that our overseas guests were scratching their heads trying to understand the bad press that UK weather gets.

When I was a kiddie we always went to Cornwall the week before Whitsuntide and while the evenings were chilly? We usually had good weather with no crowds.
