Cornwall or bust!!
What does that mean, anyway? I'm departing next week. Any last-minute tips?

I love St Ives, its a charming town, with some great beaches. I coun't get over the yellow sand and turquoise water
|
Another place with amazing turquoise water and lovely sand is Porthcurno, which has the added attraction of the Minack Theatre - if you can get a ticket for a performance there so much the better, it's an unforgettable experience. See here for pics/more ideas:

If you have a car take the coast road from St Just to St Ives. Amazing views of the rugged cliffs, abandoned tin mines and ancient standing stones. St Just also has a nice cafe combined with a cookery book shop!

I would recommend hopping over to the Scilly Isles
http://www.jeremytaylor.eu/scilly_isles.htm You can fly over and take the boat back so you get to see a lot and it is not too expensive. http://www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk/ A hike around part of the South West coastal walk is also pretty spectacular. http://www.jeremytaylor.eu/lands_end_penzance.htm |

Thanks all!! We'll be in Cornwall on Monday -- can't wait for our stay in St. Ives and taking the spectacular walks and drives! Thanks for the Porthcurno recommendation too. Looks like we'll miss a performance at the Minack Theatre but we'll take a look around. We're spending the Royal Wedding day in St. Austell -- probably a better spot than London. My friend there says yesterday the city was completely mobbed and festooned with Union Jacks...

whoops! meant ditto RM67 (that one I've done)
If you're going to St. Austell, be sure to see St. Mawes. |
