Oh Kinsale for sure... but... I am not sure you will find a large hotel to hold all of you. So, in that case, I might pick Cork.

Are you planning on doing any special day trips from those areas? That might help everyone help you better.. knowing what you plan to see and do for those 2 days.

was in kinsale last week...there are two larger hotels that i saw...one was the grand hotel, which is in a great locationin the center of town...the other is also conveniently located but its name escapes me....

If those are the two choices, then I agree that Kinsale is the pick.

If you're open to alternatives, then I might recommend Cobh, depending as littletraveler said, on where you are plaaning day trips to. We found Cobh a nice retreat but convenient enough for the whole Cork area, parts of Tipperary and Waterford counties.

karencox,

Two days and nights in Kinsale is the way to go. The town will be chock-a-block with tourists in July, but don't let that deter you, as Kinsale is an upmarket (perhaps overly so) treat.

While in Kinsale, be sure to take a walk along the harbor and out to Scilly, and then on to Charles Fort. It's wonderfully situated, and the Bulman Pub, located just down the road from the fort, is a terrific place for a pint, a bite to eat, and even an evening meal.

As regards lodging, you might consider the centrally-located Blue Haven Hotel. It features 17 rooms (rather compact but attractively furnished), along with a well regarded restaurant (I had the Blue Haven salmon a few years back and it was one memorable piece of fish.)
Room rates are about euro 85 per-person. It's by no means economy-minded, but then not much about Kinsale is. Moreover, staying at the Blue Haven puts you in the very heart of Kinsale.

Best of luck.

karencox,

In the case that the Blue Haven is full-up - and that's a distinct possibility -consider the following accommodations:

The Old Bank House (17 rooms, with a fine reputation)

Trident Hotel (58 rooms, located on the waterfront)

Actons Hotel (Overlooks the harbor; it's Kinsale's best known hotel; 76 rooms)

Best of luck.
