Hi, what's the best hotel for Cork area? Jurys, blarney castle, or Midleton? Help I'm booking on Laterooms.com for next week!

Midelton is a bit out from the City. What is your transport situation / interests in the area?

We are driving from Dublin and we just want to see as much of the area as possible in as short amount of time. Our home base is in Mayo.

We have family in Watergrasshill (about 1/2 way between Cork City and Midelton) and have been in the area six times in the last five years. Unless you have a lot of time, or are overwhelmingly interested or attracted to the immediate area, I would recommend Blarney as it should be quiet this time of year. Cork city is slated to be 'European City Of Culture' in 2005 so they have been busy tearing up the streets, etc. to get everything spruced up for the events this coming summer.
What is your timetable, itinerary (i.e., coming from Waterford or Cashel? Heading to Kinsale, or Killarney? How many days are you planning to spend in Cork City? and, Are you adamant about a Hotel, versus a B&B?)? Cork has lots to offer, but West Cork has even more, and if you are short on time, I wouldn't spend too much of it in/around the City.

The very best hotel in Cork is the 5-star Hayfield Manor. It is very expensive, but you did ask for the best. You might also consider Kinsale, a lovely harbor town, about 30-40 minutes south of Cork City. In that case I would suggest Perryville House or Old Bank House. They are both posh.
