Cordoba for a Birthday

Hi there

My husband will be having a birthday while we're in Cordoba, Spain. We are traveling with outer small children (three under five). Can anyone recommend a family friendly restaurant for a Birthday Lunch / Dinner? Or a place to buy a small cake to pop a candle in? We're starting close to the Mezquita.

Thanks so much

I would have chosen one of the many traditional tabernas in Cordoba, they will all be very much used to celebrations and serving large groups of families and friends of all ages: http://www.cordoba24.info/tavernen/

These would all be great options:
- Taberna La Viuda from 1920: http://www.tabernalaviuda.com/

- Taberna Salinas from 1879: http://www.tabernasalinas.com/

- Taberna La Montillana from 1948: http://tabernalamontillana.com/

You should be able to buy a birthday cake at any branch of the department store El Corte Ingles. Most will have a nice selection in various sizes.

You might want to check out Bodegas Campos, Calle Los Lineros, 32 (www.bodegascampos.com). It offers traditional Andalucia cuisine in a very traditional setting. And El Churrasco, Calle Romero, 16 (elchurrasco.es), would be another good choice for a birthday celebration for your family.

There is also chef Kisko García's Restaurante Choco, Calle Compositor Serrano Lucena, 14 (www.restaurantechoco.es) that you might enjoy. Just let him know it's a birthday celebration.

Thank you everyone. They all sound great. We'll check them out.

Do you know if we can bring our own cake to these restaurants? Or can they supply one? Will I need to bring candles?

Thanks again

I would ask when you make your reservation.

I don't think you have to worry about bringing small children to restaurants as the Spanish love children, you might even get better service.
