How long should we stay in Cordoba?

We arrive by train at about 11:00 on a Sunday in late March. There are trains leaving at 15:40, 17:44 and later. Which should we choose? Or can we just buy tickets when we are ready to leave?

Also, are there still lockers available at the bus station (near the train station) so that we can leave our luggage?

I'd take the later train as though Cordoba ain't a huge town in its historic centre it does have an unGodly number of neat old churches, abbeys, monasteries and cute little lanes to explore after you do the big Kahuna - the grand former mosque and now one of Christiandom's most awe-inspiring cathedrals.

Where are you leaving by train to - Seville? If Seville there are two types of trains running that short route - the non-AVE trains I think are cheaper and have a flat fare structure but AVE tickets can be discounted online and there may be two different fares according to time on day. But I think even just buying before the train to Seville would not make much difference - Madrid may be a different story as you pretty much I think must take the AVE trains there from Cordoba.

The later train sounds like the better alternative

We are going on to Seville and would take the faster train. The fare depends on the time of day, but we'd have to leave either at 15:40 or much later to get a less expensive fare.
