I have traveled with one. I got news for you, this "panic" over butane has NOTHING to do with the risk of explosion.

The reason you can't take Butane lighters etc. on a plane is that the TSA thinks that if the shoe bomber had used a lighter he could have lit his bomb. Now the TSA in it's normal "lack of commmen sense" mode didn't set up anything to better to deal with EXPLOSVIES which were the real problem!!!

(And of course you have to use plastic knifes, because that "Sharp" butter knife you used to get is dangerous. Yeah give me a decade and I can cut someone's throat with that!)

Prohibiting matches in checked luggage is not about Richard Reid being unable to light a bomb because he didn't have a Bic. It's about the risk of ignition.

The same holds for LPGs.
