Copenhagen - the World's Finest Restaurant!

according to Anthony Bourdain and many other food aficionados repeatedly last night on his cable TV show - Nomo in Copenhagen, which to book a table means ordering months early as food gurus from all over the world flock here for its unique foods - most gathered from farms within 50-60 miles of the restaurant.

Anyone dined at Nomo - any comments - way out of my price range but the food looks more the edible - but rather delectable!

It is located in Chritians Haven - a colorful old port area of Copenhagen, not far from fabled Christiana, said to be the 2nd most visited site in Copenhagen after Tivoli Gardens.

The best I can do is tell you that I know someone who ate there.

I have an aversion to eggs, so it doesn't look quite so delectable to me. Still, I would eat there as someone's guest.

I'm sure it is out of my price range, too, Pal, but I can't seem to find what it would cost. Any idea?

If you have to ask how much it would cost it will cost too much for you! Just joking but that's an old saying! I too would wonder - kind of half watched the show last night - it probably said.

PalQ, this isn't really news - it's been voted best restaurant in the world by those in the trade several times over quite a few years now. I would have liked to eat there - but guess I never will now, sigh...

The price is on the menu (200 euro/275 USD--not including beverages). Not that bad for a once-in-a-lifetime splurge.

If you want a somewhat lesser experience without having to
travel to Denmark, you can eat on Lummi Island in Wash. state
at the Willows Inn.

The chef is a protégé of chef Rene and the resto gets rave
reviews from foodies from all over the PNW.

The menu items that I've seen on line looks luscious and
although he forages the foodstuffs aren't as outré.

Big plus would be staying at the Inn so the wine pairings
can be thoroughly enjoyed by everyone - no DD needed.

I think you'll find the restaurant is called Noma. Not sure what's happening with the spelling but Chritians Haven is Christianshavn (havn pronounced like hound without the d). Noma is out of my price range but thoroughly enjoyed Restaurant Radio in Copenhagen which is similar sort of cuisine without the price tag. Lots of foraged plants and unusual things like pine needles in olive oil & various wild herbs.

PalenQ, it was just a few months ago--and the new show is fantastic. I understand if people find Bourdain annoying, but his crew does such an amazing job. The Burma episode (season 1) in particular was stunning.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Bourdain:_Parts_Unknown>

Seems to have been a new episode if I read the Wiki entry correctly and if I recall in my haze was advertised last night as a new episode.

I rather like Anthony as he shows much more than food usually - really gets into dicey areas sometimes in some places - showing problems, etc. He said about Copenhagen 'I usually hate doing shows in modern, well-kept organized cities (of which Copenhagen is a prime example!).
