Copenhagen sights and day trips
Okay,I think I have finally found an apt and now have to arrange sights to see around Copenhagen and short trips. We are there 1 week beginning 11/19. Please help with your favorite sights to see and possible day trips (rent a car?). Without being greedy, maybe your favorite medium priced restaurants also. Thank you

The Louisiana Museum is a must. Combine with a trip to Helsingør to see "Hamlet's castle."

Hi S,

The Frederiksborg in Hillerød. See

The town of Roskilde with the Viking ship museum and the cathedral.

You can get to both by train.

Malmo, Sweden, is an easy day trip by train over the spectacular Oresund Bridge. It's a nice switch-up from Copenhagen, with its own unique feel.

Ditto Roskilde - we loved it. We actually rented a car for 2 days and did a sort of circle of nearby towns, including Helsingor.

If you look above under destinations above you will find all the usual suspects. We especially loved the WWII museum with the homemade tank - incredibly moving how the Danes organized to help almost all their Jewish citizens escape to Norway etc as the Nazis were invading.

There is a beautiful village past the airport to the east - Dragor, I believe. You can get there on a city bus from downtown. In the summer they have several restaurants, coffee shops, a grocery store (filled with Swedes buying booze to take back to
Sweden on the ferry), ice cream shops and a place to buy wonderful smoked salmon.

It feels like an 'old' village - thatched cottages, close together etc. I believe that in reality it is a very expensive 'suburb' to live in.
I visit everytime I am in Copenhagen (not often enough) but have never been there in November. That might change things.

Enjoy your week. I think Copenhagen is seriously underrated as a delightful place to visit in Europe.
