Very briefly, Copenhagen is very, very expensive to live and entertain yourself in (drinks, dinner, movie, etc); and during the winter months it will be dark by 4 pm and not light until about 9 am. This lasts from December through early April. While English is widely spoken, you may find that everything in the grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, etc. is in Danish, not too easy to cook using Danish directions....

I can’t imagine a more fun city to be a student in than Sydney: fantastic weather, beaches minutes away, an entire party culture. English no problem. Makes me wish I were 20 again....

That said, Copenhagen would be a good place to base trips to Europe, but you would be traveling in the winter months, great if you want to ski, not so great for some tourist stuff.

Also would depend a little bit on your subject, and which university you are considering has the better program. While fun is important, it is also good to have a solid foreign school on your resume, esp. if you think you may want to return to work or study for a graduate degree there.

As far as I'm concerned, this question has a "right" answer: SYDNEY (unless you live in Australia, that is). You'll have many opportunities to travel to Europe but being able to spend a semester in Australia is a rare and wonderful blessing. Grab it!

What exchange are you using for these semesters? (I think I know which one as I have two college kids myself that have gone overseas but am curious.)I personally think that both places would be great but as a parent that has had kids do exchanges I would like to add a few other things. What are you studying in school? Are the courses offered at each foreign university what you need to graduate? Can you afford the airfare to Sydney? What are you looking to do besides study on your exchange-do you want to travel around on weekends or would you be content to stay in the city you are based in. Considering that you would be going to Copenhagen in the fall(I am assuming August to December?)-very nice! Sydney has reverse seasons so you will be starting in their spring which is also nice.I would make a two sided list with pros and cons for both as you cannot go wrong with either. My daughter had this type of decision to make( too) and she did the list which made her realize which city had more what she wanted for her major. Good luck!No matter what you choose you will never regret going overseas as it changes your life!

I don't think you could pick a wrong place!!!

My husband and I lived in Copenhagen for 15 months while he did a study abroad masters degree program and we had a WONDERFUL time and it changed our lives forever. I can't say enough good things about living in Copenhagen. We loved it and dind't want to come back when it was time.

Never been to Sydney by I can't imagine how wonderful that would be too.

Like "dutyfree" said, You are very lucky to have this oppurtunity. No matter where you pick you are going to have the time of your life and create memories that will last forever! Good luck in your desision!
