Copenhagen Hotels
 

I'm looking for a hotel for a 2-night pre-cruise stay in Copenhagen. When we were there a decade ago, we stayed at what is now the Radisson Royal Copenhagen right across from Tivoli Gardens. It is a huge hotel but very convenient on arrival and for walking around the pedestrian area. Since then, some of the hotel amenities have changed. For example, the room category we stayed in had a huge breakfast buffet included in a special restaurant with nice views on a higher floor. That restaurant has since closed and been replaced with only the ground floor "fusion" restaurant. I'd be interested in other recommendations in the same area. We'd like a king-sized bed with an updated bath. We'll be arriving ~ mid-day into Copenhagen Central. We'd like to explore Copenhagen again or maybe do a day trip (hence the appeal of being close to the main station).

I don't have a recommendation for you other than to say, if it was me, I'd go back to the Arne Jacobsen designed Radisson Royal Copenhagen in a heartbeat. And request to visit room 606 if no one's in it! That room still has the original furniture, including the original egg chairs. But "representations" of the egg chair still hold an important place at this hotel.

And, as you said, it is very conveniently located . . . you can walk everywhere.

When we were last there (quite a while ago, like you), we had an upper corner overlooking Tivoli Gardens. A special request that summer, because it was my birthday and I wanted to see the fireworks from the room!

Yes, it's well located and we'll probably end up there again, but I'd like to consider alternatives that might be equally convenient. When we were there, the restaurant for the included breakfast for the "Royal Club" rooms was the Alberto K and the room view and location was similar to what you stated. I may go for a lesser room category since I don't think breakfast is included anymore. We may spend the money on booking from the night before because I do recall it was a big cruise hotel with lots of people waiting in the lobby, and the room was not available early so we had to wait to get into it.

It's been a few years, but we love Hotel Danmark for the location (easy walk from Tivoli and the train station), breakfast buffet, and roof deck. The wine hour is nice, too!

Check out the Boutique Hotel Herman K. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from Stroget and Nyhavn, so it’s easy to explore the city on foot. The area feels safe and lively, with plenty of great cafés and restaurants nearby.
The hotel is modern and stylish — minimalist Scandinavian design inside a converted industrial building. King-size beds are available in Deluxe rooms. Excellent breakfast, too.
