Copenhagen and Norway Fjords?

I had previously started a thread regarding a Croatia/Slovenia trip however work conflicts have changed my original dates and flights are much higher. I have found a a good airfare to Copenhagen for early June ( about $300-400 pp less than any of the places I was looking in central Europe). I will have 9 days and I was wondering about the feasability of combining Copenhagen with several days in the Norway fjords. My husband has always wanted to go to Copenhagen and I would just like some stunning natural terrain with good hiking. I do understand that overall prices in Scandinavia will be higher once I get there, just looking to see if this is a reasonable(and enjoyable!) trip. As always any advice is appreciated.

We did it a few years ago. Nine days total, with Copenhagen at the end of the trip. And we had a blast!

Here's our trip report:

Cheers!

Norway's fjords are stunning - I'm usually slightly "ho hum, more trees on a hillside" but these are truly spectacular. Maybe it's partially because they are so uninhabited and undeveloped. After going once, I've been back twice and am going again in June (a one week cruise). You mentioned hiking - I went on a hike, but didn't appreciate that a hike really was a hike, up a rocky trail, next to a waterfall, huffing & puffing. I pooped out and stopped at the bar in the parking lot for the duration.

Copenhagen has so much to do - a few of my highlights: Christiana (take the tour given by residents); the Royal Reception rooms; Nyborg Glypotek museum (great building, mummies, impressionist works); and Tivoli. Not to mention a canal boat tour.

Mr_go, it looks like we have very similar travel styles! Norway does look stunning. Did you rent a manual or automatic in Norway?
Vickie,Copenhagen looks like an enjoyable city with tons to do.

I would do your sums very carefully. Any savings you make on airfares to Copenhagen can be more than eaten up by cost of car rental/trains/hotels/eating in Norway.
Croatia/Slovenia will be very cheap once you are on the ground, certainly compared to Denmark and Norway.

>>Nyborg Glypotek museum<< This should read the Carlsberg Glyptotek.

Thanks, brms. We rented an automatic in Norway. We can both drive stick, but I like to have one less thing to think about when navigating foreign terrain.

Click my name if you'd like to see our recent Croatia/Slovenia trip report, from last year.
