Copenhagen 2 or 3 nights means fly or tk night train
Everyone on here has been so helpful on this blog so far we picked hotel and area we want to stay in Copenhagen. Our last dilemma for our trip in Copenhagen is do we fly from Prague to Copenhagen or take the night train. If we fly we would have 3 nights and 3 days. If we night train we will have 2 nights and 3 days. Obviously the night train is more relaxing but if is worth the hassle to fly to have an extra night in Copenhagen? We obviously want to do tivili one night and then hit up Free town and nyhavn one night. Is that enough to explore Copenhagen night time? Is there other areas young 30 somethings should check out? Not into clubs mostly bars and cool fun areas meet people.
Keep in mind we wil be traveling other parts of europe before our last stop in copenhagne, dubrovnik (flying then to) berlin (train to ) prague (then night train or fly to) last stop copenhagen. Any ideas/help be great about night trains or amount of time needed at night in Copenhagen. |
There is no way I would take a train from Prague to Copenhagen - but then I don;t do night trains. Tried it once and didn't sleep at all.

If you take the train you will arrive in Copenhagen in the morning, which means that you will lose that morning getting to the hotel and settling in. If you fly in the evening before, you will have the whole first day in Copenhagen. On the other hand, low cost airlines are often mid-day flights, which means that this represents time lost in Prague. Your choice.

Fly, definitely.

Who are the low cost carriers that fly PRG-CPH? Norwegian, SAS and OK fly this route.

I found Norwegian airline(has anyone used them i also bought my direct flight from jfk to europe for the trip will be first time using them for us) direct flight leaves prague around 5pm and gets in at 620 pm. I assumed we could then get into our hotel by 7pm not sure how accurate I am. Or night train leaves at 620pm and gets into copenhagen at 10am then get to our hotel drop luggage off by 10:30.
Im leaning towards flight option just for more time in Copenhagen we will have had 4 days/nights in prague so leaving little earlier to catch flight wont be much of a concern i was thinking. IDK we are so torn lol. We have talked out all our options and still come up short of discussion. We are worried we are flying to much since we usually do trips with trains but this trip has places we wanted to really see that are further in distance so planes only choice but at least they are direct. |
Fly so you don't waste your limited time. We took a train into the city center from the CPH airport and it was easy to do.

well actually you may save time on a night train as flying inevitably takes a half a day or more - getting to airport long before flight is necessary - waiting for luggage, etc. then getting into town, etc. nigh trains let you cover ground at night - arrive in the city center in the morning and you save on the cost of a night in a hotel. I've take night trains all over Europe for decades and I have found little problem sleeping but obviously this is different for different folks so if a light sleeper rule them out. The comfort level on night trains is much better if you have a private compartment but that also costs a lot more - I always go the couchette or reclining chair route because as a single traveler a single compartment can be really expensive - but if paying $200 or so for a night in a hotel then the train will overall save you money perhaps - anyways for loads of great info on overnight trains check out these IMO superb rail sites: www.ricksteves.com; www.seat61.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com. I've been in Copenhagen many times and to me there is not that much to do at night - loads of stuff to do in the daytime though. |
We've used Norwegian Airlines from Paris to Oslo. It's like any other airline. Low cost does not mean that they used rubber bands and duct tape to fix the plane.

lol Michael. Thanks everyone =) Still torn haha you all had great advice! Let me know what we decide.

Norwegian have up to date new fleet inc wifi on board, have flown them several times to CPH.

I love overnight trains, so for me, the choice would be clear! Obviously, not everyone agrees.
|
kja - me too but it all depends on how light a sleeper one is.
