Cool vacation for a college student

I am a college student looking into taking a trip next summer. The problem is that i have no idea what or where to go. Any suggestions?

Doesn't your school have a student union or student travel agency?
Start there first.

If you don;t know how are we supposed to?

Since you've posted on the europe board presumably that's what you're thinking of.

You need to start with some research. Have a look at some Let's Go Guides - or the Thorn Tree section of the Lonely Planet website. They have lots of info for impecunious students.

What are you interested in? Castles, palaces, Roman ruins, Celtic ruins, pubs and nightclubs, art musuems, beaches...?

Also, what is your budget? The current exchange rate isn't all that favorable.

If you have no particular interests what does it matter where you go. Buy a ticket and just go.

Go to www.contiki.com. Review the various trips. Pick one long one or, better yet, two or more to string together with a short gap in between for independent travel or travel with your new temporary friends.

I'd avoid the budget trips, but I first went on a Contiki trip when I was 26 and a professional with a little bit of money, not a collegian.

Enjoy.

At worst, if you're not liking the notion of taking a tour, then the Contiki site will give you some concepts of what you want to see and you can come back and pelt the board with specific questions.
