cool new travel website

I found a very cool website called
"i-escape.com". They specialize in small, quaint places to stay in the following areas:

Chile
Greece
Morocco
South Africa
Dominica
Sri Lanka
India: Goa
India: Kerala
St Lucia
Spain: Mallorca
Spain: Andalucia
St Kitts and Nevis

No, I have no ties to this site, I just thought it was great..has lots of information and images. Check it out.

I checked this site out because I know about alot of the places mentioned. Much of the information appears out-of-date or just plain wrong. Pass on it.

Really?! I've never been to any of the places mentioned, so obviously nothing appeared wrong to me. Can you tell me anything specific about what was wrong?

Sandi,
It appears many of the prices are wrong, especially for Greece and St. Lucia. I haven't had time to look much further. Also, most of what's in the destination guides is lifted almost word-for-word out of old tourism bureau brochures.

Boy, that's too bad...that sure did package it nicely.

I cannot tell you how upset I am to read the criticisms of Mr Anonymous. We spent 2 years putting i-escape together for launch a couple of months ago. I have personally worked almost 7 days a week, day and night (for not one penny of income) to produce something which we thought would be useful, interesting and honest. If any of our hotel prices are out of date it can only be by a few weeks as we are updating the whole time. And as we put you in direct contact with the hotel you get a final quote from them.

We do not take info from tourism bureau brochures - new or old. In fact Michael who worked incredibly hard to put together the Greek section (which was only loaded a week or so ago and is still in progress) knows Greece inside out - he has lived there most of his life, written several guide books on the area and has worked in the travel industry there for years. One of my specialist areas is Mallorca - where my parents live and where I have been going to for 20 years. Our restaurant and hotel info is more up to date than any guide book available on the island.

Either we ourselves or one of our writers and a photographer stay in all our featured hotels (not all those we stay in our on the site, we pick our favourites). This is so that we can provide an honest and detailed review (more detailed than any guide book and usually more than the hotel's own website). Hotels do not pay to be on the site. We are also happy to provide unbiased travel advice to users of our site.

Mr A - I would welcome you dropping me an email directly to update me on any inaccuracies you may have found so that we can then rectify them asap.

Very interesting

I have just been reading through the Greece section and have to say that I think the contents are pretty much accurate and enjoyable. In fact, what is there is possibly a lot better than many of the sites I have visited over the years.

'X' mentioned that some of the Greek prices are wrong. I travel to Greece and some of the islands a good few times a year mostly on business and feel that the prices mentioned are similar to those I have found there. Mind you, it would be difficult to be completely accurate as costs can rise and fall there like a roller coaster over a very short period of time and on occasions depending on the season. If the information is given as 'indication only' then I think it works.

If I have any criticism it is perhaps that the site contents lean a wee bit towards the UK market e.g. prices in sterling and UK departure points. That said, it is only a SMALL criticism and perhaps the owners will address this in future updates.
Having not even looked at the site, I would wonder why "x" would knock it so badly, but not give any true definitive information. All I can think of is that s/he might be jealous or a competitor, but I can't prove any of this.

I find it hard to believe that nikkit would intentionally plagiarize or want to plagiarize someone else's materials without giving credit where credit is due and face any legal implications.

Not knowing either person or the contents of the site, I think that everyone has to make their own determinations and comparisons to see which statements are correct -- is it "x" (the one without a moniker or email address) or nikkit (the one with the moniker, email address and website).

Well for pete's sake, if you care about the content's of this site just go look at it. Who cares about x's motives, Leslie? You got kind of carried away with your own self-important analysis of the situation. Check it out and make your own decision.
