Cool/Hip Area in Milan
 

Does anyone know of a cool/hip area in Milan that people in their 20's would enjoy going out to clubs/bars/restaurants?

My younger siblings have put me in charge of doing research for them and they want to book a hotel room that will be situated in an area where they can walk to clubs....not my thing, but any advice would be most appreciated!

The hipness of Milano neighborhoods is constantly in flux, but in recent years, young people have drifted toward the Navigli district at night, in part because it is price friendly when it comes to eat and drink, and it has a industrial-cool ambience, like other "rescued" neighborhoods in major capitals. I don't really much care for the district, and the last time I stayed there, the hotel I stayed in was awfully stodgy, so I can't recommend it for your purposes (and I don't remember the name).

The areas of Milano I find fashinable (and full of models) are around the via Brera and the Corso Magenta, and around San Babila-- but your younger siblings really should do their own research as to what they are looking for. The differing neighborhoods are "hip" in their own way, and the clubs all have different themes and attract different clientele.

But no matter what they want for nightlife, I would recommend staying in a hotel close to either the Duomo or the Castello Sforzesco. Milano has a good transportation system, both below and above ground.

One place you might check out is Hotel Straf. Cool design in a central location.

PS: By perusing British travel sites online, including British newspaper sites, your younger siblings should be able to come up with guides for nightclubbing and weekends in Milano oriented toward their interests. Try the Guardian website, Time Out, Times UK Online, The Independent and even The Economist.

Brera is a street and an "area" not far from the Castle and Duomo (5 to 10 minutes walk, 2 or 3 metro stops)Just at the end of Brera (Piccolo Theatre, metro Lanza) starts Corso Garibaldi and Corso Como is connected to it.
Navigli are the old "canals", it is an area not so close to the center of the town. But Milano is not so big..., few metro stops and you are there. Navigli area can include another street very cool, via Savona --> Tortona (metro porta Genova).
