cooking classes in Umbria

I and a friend are hoping to do a cooking class in Italy in July. We'll be staying in Spello and Assisi. We are both good cooks, so would like something a bit more challenging than beginners. Any recommendations?

I have not taken classes here, but I came across these cooking classes while researching a trip to Tuscany/Umbria a few years ago. You would need transportation to get to the classes. They mention a taxi, but I am not sure if that is from Assisi or Perugia.

Not sure if they have 1 day classes in Italy, but I have taken a week long cooking class in France through The International Kitchen... check out their website, there are dozens of classes offered. I dream of the day I can take another one!

You might also look at HomeFood, an organization in Italy that promotes traditional Italian cuisine. They offer the opportunity (for a fee) to eat in the homes of Italians who will cook a dinner that usually reflects the regional style of cooking.

I have not done cooking classes, but I have done dinners in two regions through them.

This cooking school in Le Marche has always got high marks; I live in Le Marche and am a superb cook (!!) so I've never taken any courses there. (Seriously, I had excellent private lessons from our housekeeper, who was a superb cook, when I moved to Italy.)

This place is right in the corner of Le Marche that's near the border with Tuscany and Umbria. It's not far from Città di Castello (Umbria) or Sansepolcro (Tuscany). The location is right in the center of one of Italy's foremost areas of prized white truffle gathering, but July is definitely not truffle season.

We have stayed at La Tavola Marche 3 times in 2 years and are going back for two weeks in August! Absolutely love it! If you click my name you will find trip reports and pictures from our trips!
