Cooking classes Amsterdam or Paris?

I love taking cooking classes when I'm traveling - not a multi-day course, just a 2-4 hour class to explore local markets, technique etc. Had a great time doing this in Istanbul and other cities and would like to find something similar in Amsterdam or Paris for our trip in October. Any suggestions?

I'm going to guess you will have a lot more choices in Paris than Amsterdam (not really known for its cuisine).

Paris of course!

There are a few places in Amsterdam, but they cater mostly for groups rather than individuals. You could try www.dekookfabriek.nl/en for instance.
Try Google for more - though many of the sites are only in Dutch.
Depending on when you are here you could also look at www.kookwinkel.nl under cursusagenda to see if they offer anything. The site is in Dutch, but they do speak English there. It is in Hilversum, a short train ride from Amsterdam. If you are a kitchen equipment freak you will love their shop too! You can always e-mail them for info at [email protected]

Back from the Amsterdam/Paris trip, and wanted to report on the cooking class I did -- www.cooknwithclass.com, Chef Eric Fraudeau. There are lots of comments about his class on Chowhound, but it was everything I was looking for. His website gives all the information. Classes are limited to 6 people and begin with a market tour to learn about and select ingredients for the meal that involves hands-on prep. A delicious four-course meal, wine, good conversation (in English) -- a great way to spend a day!

The Ritz Hotel Paris has a lunchtime cooking class - the Pause Ritzy. They will give an English translation during the class.
