Convent or monastery in Assisi
Has anyone stayed in a convent or monastery in Assisi that they would recommend? Most of the information I've found here and elsewhere relates to staying in convents in Rome only. Thanks.

Moira: Three years ago we stayed at St. Anthony's Guest House which is run by the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement. The nuns are all English speaking and their mother house is in Garrison, NY.
We had a lovely double room with a balcony at very modest cost. They serve a mid day dinner, with reservations. Curfew was at 11 PM. There is, however, a two day reservation requirement. As the House is in the center of town, we never felt the need for a car.

Moira: Sorry, time and space ran out.
Contact the Sisters at (075) 812 542; fax 075 813 723.
We certainly would go back to St. Anthony's again as its a beautiful town and the Sisters were more than gracious.
Leone
Thank you for the information Leone! When you say that the nuns are English speaking do you mean that they're Italians who speak English or that they are native English speakers who have come from NY? (I'm studying Italian, so I prefer having the chance to speak Italian as much as I can when I'm there.)

Moira: The nuns native language was English, but they are all bilingual. The mother house may be in NY, but that does not necessarily mean all the nuns are New Yorkers. Rest assured, you will be speaking perfect Italian before you leave Italy. Have a wonderful trip. Leone
