Convent accommodation in London
Does any one have any recommendations, experiences or stories please?
|
I think most people would be pretty surprised there are rooms going in any London convents.
St Mary at the Cross, out at Edgware, has a small guest house. Run by Anglican Benedictines - and, yes, they're nuns. The Daughters of Charity in Carlisle Place SW1 and the Franciscan Sisters of Malta in St George's Drive SW1 are more conventional Catholic orders with small (8-10 bed) guesthouses attached to their Central London convents. None have websites: google for addresses and phone numbers. No idea what they're like to stay at. There is, of course, a much wider range of accommodation, both in the centre and in the suburbs, religious communities offer as retreat centres and the like. |
This isn't quite what you asked for, but I'll post it anyway:
http://tinyurl.com/2r5nno I know there is something in Islington (how's that for vague), but I remember no details at all. Here's contact info for the Anglican order mentioned by Flanneruk: http://tinyurl.com/2p48yw |
Dear flanneruk and WillTravel,
I thank you so much for this very valuable information. Cheers, Margaret. |
