Conrad London or Hilton Mews?
I can get these both for about the same price. Conrad is 5 star, Mews is 4 star. Which one would be better in terms of overall experience in London with regards to available transportation, accommodations, etc.? I will be in London for 4 days. I am an American.

I stayed at the Hilton Mews earlier this year. I found it to be a very, very nice small hotel. If you like the larger, mega hotels, then this is not your place.
The staff was freindly, the "lobby" was small but very comfortable for reading the paper with a cup of tea.
My room was a single, but perfectly nice, with an outstanding bathroom.
The hotel is on a small street behind a larger Hilton, so there is a little noise from delivery trucks but it's really not bad.
I loved the location: There are some really cool, small streets around the back of the hotel, but you are also 5 minutes from Picaddilly St and 8-10 minutes from Green St. tube.
All in all, a really good place to stay.

Since we're on the subject of Hiltons, anyone ever stayed at the Metropole? What is the most efficient way to get from Gatwick to this hotel?

Conrad is not well located mews is better

The Conrad is a FABULOUS hotel in a VERY inconvenient location. That is why they have so many specials. It is a beautiful setting on the river, but it is miles from anywhere and not walking distance from any tube station. You literally would have to take cabs to get anywhere and that would really add up since the joureys will be long.

The Mews is a very nice hotel in a FABULOUS location. It is convenient to anywhere by tube or on foot.

Mews would definitely be my choice.

Okay - so the Conrad is nice but too far. Mews still seems small. I've made a reservation at the Trafalgar Hilton. Anyone stayed there?
|
Well the Trafalgar has about 100 rooms and the Mews has a little over 70 rooms so I don't get the big difference.

Basically - if you want really modern rooms take the Trafalgar. If you want an cushy English ambience with extremely good service take the Mews. For me it would be Mews, hands down.

The location of the Trafalgar is terrific but very busy and noisy - although the rooms are bound to be double glazed to help with that. The Mews is in Stanhope Row - much quieter but it is also a great location.
Topping for Joe. no need to start a new thread.

As said above, the London Hilton right on Hyde Park Corner is a good choice. Big rooms, big bathrooms and big views. Right next door to the London Mews Hilton which is tiny.

My husband and I stayed at the Metropole in June. It is a huge hotel mostly for business travelers. The breakfast buffet was great with quite a selection. There is a Marks and Spencer across the street and a Safeway just down Edgeware Road. The room was a good size. I would stay there again.
