Connections at Heathrow

Hello fellow travelers,
We are flying into Heathrow (early a.m.) from the US (American Airlines) and connecting to an Alitalia flight to Milan. Does anyone know how to find arrival gates and departing gates? And is it worth it to get a one day pass for the Admiral's club (3 hrs. 45 min. between flights)

Hi Joyce - You can find arrival/departure gates on the Heathrow website

Hope this helps ...

But don't know how much help that will be since you won't know what gate you arrive at until you land. And departure gates aren't usually announced until right before they begin boarding.

You can't find gates on the Heathrow website. Bitish airports don't have gates dedicated to individual airlines.

Get the bus from T3 to the Flight Connections Centre, go through security, and check in with Alitalia. If all this takes time, the airport might have decided which gate to allocate and the AZ clerk will tell you. On most intra-European flights, normally that's a decision that takes place 60 mins before takeoff and is announced 45 or so mins before, though this can vary.

If the gate's not yet been decided, go into the T2 departure concourse, amuse yourself and keep an eye on the screens.

There's absolutely no point in buying AA lounge membership for the day. Strictly speaking, you're not allowed to use it anyway: airport rules - which AA is not allowed to overide - are that only passengers departing from T3 are allowed into the T3 airside departure area. And you're not

PS: But You can buy a 3-hour pass to a T2 lounge (http://secure.baa.com/baa/baabook.as...amp;src=WLHR71). You'll only be in it for an hour or so and there aren't any showers. But I use this lounge occasionally, and find it worth the annual subscription just to get access to a power point.

Sorry folks - I meant 'Terminals' rather than gates.

I guessed - perhaps wrongly - that's what Joyce was asking.

Just a note to be sure AA tags your bags all the way through to Milan. If the flights are on separate tickets, be sure AA sees the second ticket when you check in.

If you need to claim and recheck bags at LHR, you will need a considerable part of that connection time.
