Connection time within CDG Terminal 2E?
 

Hello,

In my upcoming travels I will fly Bucuresti > CDG > Los Angeles. In CDG airport, I am arriving in 2E and also departing from 2E. I only have 1 hour between flights (no choice). How long should I expect to spend getting from my arrival gate to my departure gate? I am traveling with a disabled person and a dog, so I am really stressing about connection times.

Also, will I need to cross the French border and/or go through security again? Since there is a dog in my group, I would really hate to waste the time going through a border and getting his papers checked again.

Even if you indeed arrive in terminal 2E and depart from terminal 2E, I doubt anyone, including the airport, knows which gates will actually be used for your flights until just hours before the arrival and the departure.

Look at the map. Terminal 2E is actually three different buildings, Hall K,L, and M which could just as well have been different terminals.

One hours is tight at CDG without throwing in the US departure complication. US departure security check is often very time consuming.

Greg, thank you for the response! That explains why last time I was in CDG (I thought 2E/2E also) it seemed like I was traveling an awful long way inside the "same" terminal.

Hoping 1 hour is enough... definitely very nervous about that one.

I would assume you have some arrangements with the airline for the dog and disabled transfer etc.??? One hour is far less than I would want under normal circumstances. They should be able to arrange to meet you and assist with the transfer given the circumstances or at least I would try for that.

I don't know the circumstance why had to take this type of layover. When I see this type of legal-but-not-realistic layover, I thinker with the booking engine to reject a layover this short at CDG.
Presuming you bought your two legs under the same reservation, the carrier who took your money is responsible for getting you to the final destination... eventually. If you cannot make the connection, what is your fall back plan? Whether you have leverage on the type of alternate route you would rather want to take depends on the counter agent and your knowledge of alternatives. Even if you have no choice, having thought about the implications of taking an alternate flight would probably help you attain better outcomes.

How soon is the trip? Can you still make changes for a small amount? If not then you need to enlist the airline now to do a couple of things that will help.

1) Get you seats right st the front of the plane - that will save yuo at least 15 mintes versus seats at the back
2) Arrange for your part and dog to deplane before the rest of the passengers
3) Have the airline provide you with one of those little carts and driver to get you to the next flight as soon as possible
4) Be prepared that you will hae to go through security again - since this is a flight to the US and have all of your papers/approvals ready

If it were me I would just change to a later flight - regardless of cost. But I am risk averse - especially when you have a handicapped person and a dog.

You will not have to go through passport control as this is an international to international connection. You will have to go through security.

Everyone, thank you very much for the responses. Although I feel even more nervous after reading your replies, I will at least make a plan for the possibility of missing my flight.

My reservations cannot be changed, so I will have to hope that I get lucky with a short security line (at least not a monstrous one).

Well - in fact reservations can always be changed

It's just a matter of how much it costs versus how awkward it will be if you don't make the on-going flight. Have you looked into the cost of that?

Are there several other flights the same day?

If there are no more flights - where will you spend the night? Will any of the airport hotels allow a dog? What is the cost of this versus that for changing the reservations now?
