Connection time from terminal to CDG TGV

Hello all:

I am trying to figure out if we can make it from the flight to the CDG TGV station in time to catch a train to Avignon.

The Air Candada flight, if on time, arrives at 0940 into Terminal 1 (nightmare!). We are travelling business class, so bags should be out first. However, my experience with Terminal 1 is that bags take forever to arrive :>(

The train departs from the station at 1125.

I am doubtful at this point. Any comments and recent experiences?

regards ... Ger

If you are already having doubts and since you already seem knowledgeable about the conditions at CDG why not just change the schedule and plan to take a later train? Or are you thinking things may have changed?

Topman: I'm always overly cautious when it comes to airport transfer times, so I am hoping to get a repsonse from someone that has done the transfer. Unfortunately, the next train is not until 1400 so a flight to marseilles wold make more sense as an alternative.

Hi OR,

>Unfortunately, the next train is not until 1400 so a flight to marseilles wold make more sense as an alternative.<

Wouldn't that make more sense anyway?

Ger, I'm not surprised you're doubtful about making this connection. I wouldn't have tried it when Air Canada was flying into Terminal 2A, let alone attempting it from Terminal 1. When we flew into CDG on AC in May, our luggage arrived about twenty minutes after the first bags started to come in, despite our being in business class. (Even odder, the Dalai Llama was also in business and he and his companions were still waiting for their bags when we left the pick-up area.)

I'd take the TGV at 1400 or look into a flight from CDG.

Thanks guys! Yup, the whole Terminal 1 nightmare adds at least 30 mins onto the transfer. AnselmAdorne: Odd, I had exactly the same thing happen re the lugagge and yet every time I landed in Terminal 2, my bags came our first. Maybe the union in T1 is Communist?

I checked out the flights and they are actually cheaper AND there is one leaving at 1235 which means I can check the baggage through to MRS.

I thought I'd update you on this.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that regardless of HOW we got from CDG to the south, it would make for an impossibly long day for my MIL (83) and my husband, who would have to drive for an hour or more at the other end!

So, we decided to fly a day earlier and spend the day in the countryside before continuing the journey the next day. I have chosen to stay at Chateau Ermenonville (http://www.chateau-ermenonville.com/frameuk.htm), just 25 mins drive from the airport. I stayed there a couple of years ago when I spent a weekend exploring Senlis, Compiegne and Chantilly and was delighted with it. My ?basic? room was simply furnished, faded and in need of a lick of paint and a new bathroom, but had a magnificent view over the gardens and was only 75 Euros. The food was beyond divine and it would be worth the visit just to sample the massive cheese trolley. This time, we will splash out and get one of the better rooms.

My MIL is absolutely delighted at the prospect; she will get to stay in the tower of the Chateau, wander around the grounds in the afternoon and have a wonderful dinner in the evening (83 or not, my MIL does love her food and wine!).

Anyway, it is something to consider if you are connecting through CDG. Believe me, it is infinitely better than staying at one of the hotels around the airport, which I have done on several occasions. BTW, if you HAVE to do this, do it in style in the Hyatt!

Regards Ger
