Connecting thru CDG...faster if I carry-on only??
Does it speed up the process to move from one Continental plane from the US to another going to Vienna if I take only carry-ons OR are my checked-in bags taken care of from ATL to VIE and I don't have to bother with them?

Your luggage should be checked through to Vienna so it makes no difference to your personal transfer time - whether your checked luggage makes it to Vienna however...

Hi S,
Ditto alan ((I)) |
Just make sure your bags are checked all the way thru to your final destination, when you first check-in (watch them put the tags on!).
But do allow sufficient time between flights, to make sure both you and your suitcases make the connection. |
We've decided to take carry on only going through CDG this trip after having 2 experiences with short layovers. We made the next flights. Our baggage did not.

Kind of info I need. Thanks, all. I envision carry-ons in my future!

My coworkers and I go through CDG often. On Air France chance of lost luggage is significant. Continental is much higher. Carry on if you can.
|
I usually carry on, particularly if I'm making a connection and am worried that my bag might not make it.
But do note that you may end up doing a fair amount of walking when connecting at CDG, and some of that walking may well be up and down stairs, so only carry as much as you can comfortably handle. Wear comfortable shoes for stability on the stairs as well. |
I'm thinking we need to come up with something that "CDG" actually stands for, instead of Charles DeGaulle! Crappy Delays and.....nah, I'm not creative enough!

...Gimps

Uh-oh, if my carry-ons are heavy enough, I might qualify for that one!
