Connecting Flights
 

Hi: <BR> <BR>I found that flying Northwest, it is cheaper (almost $150) to fly to Paris vs. Amsterdam. Since I want to go to both cities, I thought I would skip my connecting flight in Amsterdam to Paris, stay in Amsterdam for a couple days, take the train to Paris and then return home from Paris. Do you think there would be a problem with this? I don't want to screw up my return flight. Thanks.

It will most likely screw up your returning flight. As soon as you miss one flight, the airlines generally cancel the rest of your itinerary. <BR> <BR>If you haven't bought your tickets yet, try for an open jaw ticket, flying into Amsterdam and out of Paris. It's usually not more expensive.

Teri, Most airlines frown on this type of "hidden city" itinerary. It's not uncommon, at least American does, for the airline to consider the rest of the trip aborted if you try this. I think you probably would screw up your return.

That is what I figured, Thanks for the info on the open jaw ticket, I will check that out. It is just so stupid that the longer you stay on a plane, the less it is - that is life I guess. Thanks for the info.

I think one thing that may be scary is your lugguage may have been checked through CDG, while you are waiting in AMS for nothing.
