Connecting flight in Paris - enough time?
Hi, I think my layover in Paris is a bit tight. I will be arriving from Riga, Latvia at CDG Terminal 2D and departing from 2E. I have 1 hour 20mins and I have to go through security and take a shuttle,IF I'm not mistaken. Do I have enough time? What about the checked baggage? If I miss the flight, what is the procedure to accommodate me on the next available flight?

Some people are successful with only 1+20 for a connection; some are not. If you do not make the scheduled outbound flight and assuming you are traveling on a single ticket, you will be booked on the next available flight which may or may not be the next scheduled flight.

You don't have to go through the passport control so you might be able to do it .
|
Where are you headed to? If connecting to an international flight, you will not make it. If a domestic flight there shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you are not booked on a single ticket, then you need to change your plans.

Thanks Sarastro, danon and Robert2533.
I'm booked on a single ticket heading to Canada. |
The problem is not just seeing if you can connect in 80 minutes. There is always the possibility that your flight TO CDG will be late for any number of reasons. If there is a reasonably timed later connection, change to it and lose the worry.
|
As long as you're booked on the same ticket, the airline(s) will route you on different flights to your destination if necessary. Your baggage will probably wait in CDG an extra day if that happens, though.

Since Latvia is in the Schengen area, the Riga to Paris flight will be considered a domestic flight. I think passport control will be a necessity in Paris.

Brioche Dorée was the place with the good French food, for example they will heat up a small quiche or pizza for you, and the prices are normal. There might also be another of these in the "pod" that you board in (after security), there was in mine. Also, some huge A380s depart from here (I saw a Thai Airlines one) so if your pod has one of those departing soon it is going to be a crowded wait for boarding.

Above comment in the wrong topic.

Calling Brioche Dorre "good French food" is surprising, it's just a chain bakery, okay if you want fast food, though.
You wouldn't have to take a shuttle between 2D and 2E, but you could, of course. YOu can walk it, not sure which would be better. |
It is a very short walk.
|
Thanks everyone! I looked into changing the flight but it will cost $300 :( If I can walk the distance then that's fine too. Whichever is quicker at this point.
I know for next trip to give myself ample time b/w flights.... |
As already noted, since you're booked on a single ticket, the airline will have to accommodate you should your incoming flight be delayed for some reason. For the international part of your journey, you will go through passport control, but it will be out at the departure gate area at CDG.

Thanks, Robert2533
