Connecticut Travellers Only
What is your favorite vacation destination outside of USA?
|
Jackson
|
You mean travelers who live in Connecticut? or travelers coming to Connecticut?
Or do I count because I have BEEN to Connecticut? |
I live in Connecticut, do I qualify? Favorite destination outside of USA: Italy!
|
I live in CT. So what is the question? I have many favorite travel destinations from Europe to Asia.
(Probably would visit USA more often!!!) |
I went to high school in Connecticut, does that count?
|
Question. Website (from Fodor)attributed Connecticut as having the population with the highest IQs in the USA. I wanted to know where they travelled to. What their preferred vacation site is. Next, I will ask why.
|
Does the fact that we have the highest per capita income count also?
Interesting... |
I wanted to add, we have one of the highest costs of living, highest real estate costs, one of the highest in personal taxation. I could go on and on, but I don't want to upset my happy day.
|
How can they claim to know everyone's IQ? I don't even know my IQ.
|
Jocelyn, Maybe that is a "hidden" part of this question. (I do know my I.Q. score.)
|
But where do CTs go on vacation?
|
Totally off the subject here, but i_am_kane, do you happen to have family in San Francisco who used to live in San Diego?
|
Jocelyn, Kane is my married name, but I think I can give you a correct answer when I say "no" because I've done a lot of family research. My husband's family settled in Stamford, CT, from Ireland, then finally to Bridgeport. They were simple, poor, hard-working (always have to add that) people, who probably never ventured outside of their neighborhood.
My guess is that they may be been O'Kane in Ireland. |
i_am_kane,
Just checking. We have some friends (of Irish heritage also) with the same last name who have family in New Jersey and I believe CT. You never know...I recently discovered a connection like that here on fodors. Have a great weekend. |
Absolutely and without a doubt, Italy!!
|
Where on the fodor's site did it make that claim?
|
I want to inquire about their investment patterns.
And please don't be vague about it. I want names! I want numbers! (attempting to reach critical mass here in the deep south) |
Platzman: Investment patterns? Ha! All we Yankees seem to do is work, work, work. DH works 7 days a week 12 -14 hour days. I work a full 40 hour week with only 2 weeks vacation. Everyone I know personally works long, hard hours for demanding employers. The manufacturing and service sector are practically gone in CT. We don't have a whole lot of time to spend our money.
Before the last 10-15 years, almost everyone we knew was a first- or second-generation American. Most of the families here are decendants of immigrants (mostly Irish and Italian). We've had a huge influx of people transferred here because of their jobs, and it's changed the population mix quite a bit. Beats me where they picked up these IQ scores. |
I grew up in CT, do I get to answer?
We never went anywhere exotic...summers at the CT shore or the Cape and winters in Florida. Although, my dad was in the military when I was young so we did live in England for awhile. He was a pilot and now hates to fly. Probably why we never went anywhere that required longer than a three hour flight. |
