Confused: U-bahn or S-Bahn to Hotel Schlicker(Munich)

I will be staying at Hotel Schlicker. I am flying into Munich Airport and want to go directly to Hotel Schlicker using the train. Hotel address is Tal 8, 80331 München. I will be carrying 3 luggages so which train # and stop do I get off of to be as close to the hotel as possible? Do I take the U-Bahn to MarienPlatz or the S-Bahn to the MarienPlatz Center or to the S-Bahan to Isartor. The hotel website doesn't indicate which train take, and when I look on the map, each stop looks to be similar distance (about 3-4 blocks away) However, on TripAdvisor reviews, I read from one reviewer that you can take the train from airport and get off a stop where the hotel is right in front of you

Use S1 or S8 S-Bahn train and get off at Marienplatz.

Your hotel, at Tal 8 is located almost equidistant between the Marienplatz and Isartor stops.

The only rail lines to the airport are S1 and S8, there is no U-Bahn line. Both S1 and S8 do travel underground through the central part of Munich and both stop at Marienplatz and Isartor, so you can't go wrong taking either S1 or S8 (they both end at the airport so they both head toward the city from the airport) and getting off at either stop.

If you want to trust the Germans, and that is a pretty safe bet on issues like this, the official Munich Transport site has a route planner which recommends the S8 line to Isartor followed by a 5 minute walk up Tal. That tells me that the S8 is faster (which I knew) and that the walk is shorter from Isartor than from Marienplatz. Interestingly, on Google Maps, it is shown as a 280 meter, 3 minute walk, from each station - dead center. I suppose the layout of each station and ease of getting up to the street may be an issue, but I don't recall that enough to offer any assistance in deciding on that basis. You will be there faster if you get off at Isartor - one stop before Marienplatz on the S8 line. If you take the S1, which comes through the center in the opposite direction, then getting off at Marienplatz is one stop "sooner".

It's a 45 minute trip.

We got off at Marienplatz, found the exit 'Im Tal" and took the escalator up and walked straight ahead. But the above info looks good. (Don't let it scare you off, but the hotel entrance is between Burger King and MacDonalds. Just as a point of reference.). Have a great time. That location is 'the best."

Those do come in handy on a warm day when you want a coke with ICE

Across the street is Schneiderweisse, which has some great beer and pretty good food too.

No, Marienplatz is the better option, havn't been counting steps lately, but it's a little closer from there.
