Confused - Santorini Princess
After reading several of the posted comments, I'm confused as to whether our decision to stay at the Santorini Princess is a wise one. Everyone is saying that the place to stay is Oia or Fira and that Imerovigli is very quiet and isolated. Anyone care to comment, please

Santorini Princess isn't actually in Imerovigli but further out along the road to Oia at least another 1/2 mile, meaning it's even more isolated than the hotels in Imerovigli itself. There's not much out there except for a few other small hotels. No shops or restaurants to speak of. Imerovigli doesn't have much either other than hotels and private residences and a few restaurants. If you stay at SP you will need a car or motorcycle at your disposal for maximum flexibility and mobility. Without a vehicle you'll have to walk to Fira or take the hourly bus as it passes by on the way to Fira from Oia (or from Fira to Oia). There are also taxis.
Fira is the island's social/commercial center, where the youth-oriented nightlife is located. Oia has lots of hotels, restaurants, shops and galleries but the nightlife is limited to a few mellow bars, no high-intensity party atmosphere. |
Thank you, brotherleelove -- you certainly seem to know a lot about Greece. I don't have much of a choice at this point because I'm going in September and everything is pretty much booked Is the Santorini Princess a nice place -- it looks beautiful on their website. Do you know anything about the weather in September -- is it still very hot?
Also am visiting Mykonos -- do you suggest staying in Mykonos Town or at a beach location. I was thinking of Mykonos Grace -- do you know anything about that? Also, they opened a Santorini Grace in June - heard anything about that? Thanks for the help |
Yes, the SP is a very nice hotel, you won't be disappointed by the quality of service or the room decor.
It might still be hot in September, but you will have missed the hottest months, lucky for you! I have no information for hotels on Mykonos and I'm not familiar with the Santorini Grace except for what I have seen on their website. |
Just returned from Greece..Mykonos was great, expensive and worth it all. We did get a great price for 4 at Princess of Mykonos in mid May..Found it on book.com while we were in Santorini. If you will be walking into towns along the roads on Sant. Watch out..Cars go like a bat out of you know where. We had cars on Paros, Santorini, Mykonos. We skipped cars on Ios and Tinos and found that this was great. Mykonos Princess is a short walk to the local bus stop which takes you to the new port then about 3/4 blocks to town..Internet access is free if you buy a smoothy, coffee whatever at Cookies in the old town. Worth it!!! Have a wonderful time.. amer_can
