Confused!! Need help with train ticket!
How do I determine what compartment and seat I want for a train that requires seating reservations? I'm on the Trenitalia website and once I have all the tickets plugged in, it asks what compartment/seat/cabin, etc. and I don't know what number to put in the reservation. Once I confirm the reservation does it then give me another choice? I'm scared to hit "purchase" without knowing what I'm getting. (I'm attempting to buy four first class tickets from Munich to Venice on the 7:30 am train.)

You don't need to choose a compartment or seat. That feature is for people who want to sit near someone who already has a ticket.

In filling out my home address for shipping purposes, what does Civic N. mean?
|
Why are you shipping? Can't you take the ticketless option?
|
go ticketless. Like airplane travel it's the way to go. You just need your ticket conf # to show the conductor. I bring a printout of the confirmation email, but you could just as easily write the conf # on a napkin and show it, or store it in your pda or cell phone.

The options on the website are self service or home delivery. Is self service the ticketless?

You can't have tickets mailed, anyway, unless your address is within Italy, I'm pretty sure, and then it costs extra. Why wouldn't you choose ticketless or pick-up at the station?
I think if you lived in Italy, civic n would make sense (I believe it is the "numero civico" or house number). |
Hi O,
You can't do this purchase from Trenitalia. Your only options are to have the tickets mailed to you in Italy or pickup at an Italian train station. Buy your tickets at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en I picked a random date for tickets. If you take the direct train at 11:30, they have a 64E special. You can print your ticket online at home. ((I)) |
Ira - I'm wanting the 7:30 am train, first class on March 20, 2008. It won't let me book it on that website either. It states that the fare is "unavailable" (probably because there's a connection in Verona). I am able to book it on the eurorail website but its really expensive - around $700. What do I do?

<What do I do?>
Wait until you are there and go to the train station the day before to buy your tickets? |
What about buying Munich-Verona on the Germain railsite, and then Verona-Venice on Trenitalia?
|
Hi O,
As TN suggests, buy the Munich/Verona leg for 64E pp online. You can print your ticket. For 15E more pp, buy the Verona to Venezia San Lucia leg when you get to Munich Hbf from the airport. Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
