Confused in Prague
So my friend recommended the Grand Bohemia Praha
Turns out there is a Grand Praha and a Grand Bohemia. Anyone know these hotels? |
Given that your friend recommended a specific hotel, you may want to ask again for the exact name; otherwise, you might stay at one your friend has never even seen, so what's the point of a recommendation at all?

Thanks Andrew. Now she is not sure which one it was. Going to find some photos of the front of the hotels so they will help her figure it out. She's a big help!!
|
Get her to bring up either hotel on Google map's Street View and take the little yellow icon to the front of the building, then have her "walk" around until her visual memory is (hopefully) stimulated. Have her look at both hotel websites in detail, surely she'll remember? We can't help you from here.

The Grand Hotel is right on Old Town Square the Grand Bohemian Hotel is beside the Municiple Building (Obecni Dum) about 200 yards apart. great places to stay though I have not stayed in either hotel,I stay out in Dejvice area.
Look at reviews for both and make your own decision, location wise both are great for a first time visitor though I reckon on the Grand Bohemian being a bit quieter |
I agree, you have to ask your friend, we don't know. But if the friend used the word "Bohemia", wouldn't you presume it is that one, not the one just named Grand Praha?
It doesn't really make sense that this friend threw in the word Bohemia for no reason for a hotel without that in its name to me. I know the Bohemia one just by reputation and sight, I stay around it. I thought of staying there once but didn't. |
Christina--You don't know my friend!! ;)
I have a reservation at the Marriott and will make one at the Grand Bohemia too and give myself time to decide. Thanks |
well, maybe so but she didn't pick that word out of the air!

oh, that Marriott is a good location, also. Th Marriott's rooms are modern even though some other spaces are not. Of course, the Grand Hotel Bohemia's rooms are pretty modern, also, but maybe not quite as streamlined. I think they are more attractive, but that's just me. The Marriott's rooms are larger, but the Bohemia's rooms are not super small. Both are convenient to a metro stop and restaurants. The Marriott is closer to the Hotel Imperial, where I'd suggest you go for breakfast one day for a real experience. It is on Na Porici.
I don't think you can go wrong, don't know if any price difference which might affect my decision if noticeable. |
Benmia - I have no opinion about any of these hotels but having passed them, they seem nice and well located. IMO, although the hotel you stay in is important to enjoying your trip, Prague itself is the real attraction and I think you will find yourself out and about perhaps more than usual. You will love Prague - I can't imagine anyone not.

Thanks everyone!
Christina You know I meant it as a joke when I said "you don't know my friend"! She finally looked at the photos and said it was the Grand Bohemia. Both hotels seem like a good choice and I will make a decision between them. |
