Confused? Has anyone ever seen this?
Ok, so I am getting over my "shock" about having to get 2 hotel rooms in Munich for a 4 nite stay in July (family of 5--3 are small kids/and 2 adults)!!
I was on travelocity website and found a great rate of 114 Euros per day/room so I was jumping at it I entered the number of rooms (2) and how many were staying in each room However as I started booking, I was reading that "fine print" and I saw this: All GoodBuy hotel reservations are prepaid. Your credit card will be charged when you complete your reservation. Charges for children may apply and will be due directly to the hotel at the time of checkout. View further details. So??? Does this mean I might possibly incur charges for my kids after I've paid for 2 rooms? I guess I didn't like seeing that it "could" potentially happen. ONe never knows....so I didn't book using travelocity.com How does anyone else interpret this? Do you think I'm "safe"? |
Why don't you contact the hotel directly and ask them?
|
I would also contact the hotel directly. Charges for children are usual if they need to put in an additional bed. Hotel rooms in Europe are not so large; you will not normally get two double beds in one room. We always have to book two rooms, with our three kids, as well.
But check with the hotel. |
The charge may be quite small for the 3rd "person/child" in the room so you may be just fine. As others have said, contact the hotel directly.
|
Plus, a lot of times you get the same rate booking with the hotel and usually you do not have to prepay! I shy away from prepaying hotels that are not refundable if your plans change.
For me, it's enough to have to commit to the airline tickets in advance! |
Beware when booking prepaid rates on travelocity, orbitz, expedia, or some of the "auction" sites. Often those rates are far higher than promotional rates that a hotel may have ... and usually a hotel will just take a CC as a guarantee with the right to cancel up to the day of arrival (and in some cases, by 6 p.m. *on* the day of arrival).

You should also contact because travelocity may not be able to confirm you connecting rooms (vs. 2 rooms that may not even be near each other) and the hotel will tell you directly if they have them and reserve them for you.
We have to do work but are often able to find hotels with connecting rooms for our small children. Otherwise you are splitting up the parents. . . |
Don't worry. For July, the hotel can definitely find adjacent rooms for you.
And the charge for the extra child won't be that much (perhaps 10 EUR) - basically cover breakfast if that's included. But you can inquire the hotel about it. |
Why not stay in an apartment hotel. We stayed in the Maximilian Apartment Hotel in Munich and got a two room apartment for about 150 Euros.
