confused about vaporetto in venice
 

if i am in venice for 3 days and i buy a 30 euro 3 day pass, can i use it to go anywhere anytime in those 3 days? like can i also go to lido, guidecca, morano etc with that pass.
what are the limitations?

Yes--it even includes the orange local bus to the airport.

And just to get technical, it is NOT a 3-day pass. It is a 72-hour pass from the time you validate it (stamp it with the date and time) before you board your first vaporetto.
For example, if you validate it at 12 noon on Day 1, it would be good until 12 noon on Day 4.

So it is different from the venice blue card? is it better to get the blue card instead of vaporetto pass, as it gets you free access to restrooms etc?

The 72-hour pass is just for transit--no museums, no churches, no restrooms.

In my experience, there aren't really that many public restrooms in Venice, so the value really isn't there for me.

I have never used a public restroom in Venice (don't recall seeing them, actually). I have always been able to use one in a restaurant, cafe, museum etc. My theory is always take advantage of one whenever available.

The 72-hour pass is well worth it in my opinion so you can hop aboard whenever you tire of walking.

There is a large (clean) public restroom on the Grand Canal, by the gardens to the west of P.San Marco.

We used a similar ticket, and didn't miss not having the 'blue' or 'orange' card for WC visits. We weren't there long enough to visit many museums etc., so just paid entry for whatever we did see. Reserving the Basilica in advance was a great way to avoid waiting in the line.

for a 3 day stay, the 72 hour pass is pretty good value at 31E, much better than the 48 hour blue Venice card for 34E, IMO. [all you get extra are the WCs, and you'd have to have a pretty dodgy system to need that many toilets!]

it gives you the opportunity to hop and off as many times as you like, which at 6.50E per single journey can get expensive, and trips to the islands are much more than that if you have to pay individually.

if you want to check out the blue and orange venice cards, look at www.venicecard.com. if you were staying for 5 days or more, then the cards ARE worth getting, at least the blue one, as you can't buy a 5 or even 7 day vaporetto pass.

just a note about the couple of public restrooms...they close fairly early in the evening (can't recall...but way before dinnertime anyway) as I found out with my 7yr old a few weeks ago! (and I was so proud of myself for actually finding a public WC!)Had to go find a bar anyway.
